Carolyn Doherty’s personal reflections on Inner Invitations by Lucy Tierney

My reflections on Lucy Tierney’s new book Inner Invitations: A universal wisdom guidebook for nurturing inner balance, healing and freedom.

BY CAROLYN DOHERTY

The words “Dare to go within…an adventure awaits” on the front cover of this book could not paint a truer picture of what was to come from the pages within.

With my pencil sharpened to mark any parts that resonated with me, I soon realized that I wanted to underline nearly every line on every page.

Inner Invitations is a universal wisdom guidebook for nurturing inner balance, healing and freedom. An adventure awaits, as you dare to go within and discover the unique-to-you invitations for growth that arise from your deepest Self.

With chapters called Pause; Become Aware: Notice; Recognise; Balance; Sort; Choose and Integrate, Lucy, with Kathryn’s assistance, gently but consistently, guided me from the first invitation which “is to move to living your life spontaneously in each now moment” (P20) through the ‘ “2” minute morning practice for inner noticing’ (P27) and the ‘”5” evening review practice, inviting you “to do an interior scan of your inner experiences of the day’s events.” (P202)

I received much nourishment and challenge from this book.

It is so beautifully written with easy to do exercises...not to say that it doesn't raise some uncomfortableness when I realized that even though I have been experiencing inner work for years, there are still parts of me who are resisting the change!

Lucy’s words in the Epilogue (P207) sum up the benefit of having this book on your bookshelf as an excellent resource, not only for yourself, but for all those you companion.

“Saying ‘Yes!’ to the risks and gifts of growth becomes a fulfilling adventure of coming to know who I am, and consciously collaborating in who I am becoming.”

Thank you Lucy and Kathryn.
